Real photos for real connections.
DJ Bornemeier / the Executive Lens
“Available for studio or outdoor sessions in Portland and nearby areas.”
DJ Bornemeier is a Portland-based headshot photographer and the founder of Executive Lens. His work centres on calm, honest portraiture—photos that feel familiar, natural, and true to the person in front of the camera.
DJ believes the best portraits happen when the pressure is removed. By slowing the pace, clearly explaining the process, and guiding clients without asking them to perform, he helps people relax and show up as themselves. The result is imagery that feels recognisable and trustworthy—photos that look like you on a good day, not a different version of you.
For dating profiles, DJ focuses on realism with care. He avoids heavy retouching and misleading edits, choosing instead to use thoughtful direction and clean lighting to create images that reflect how someone genuinely shows up in the world. That honesty helps clients feel confident—and helps the people viewing their photos trust what they see.
“The best first impression is the one you can actually live up to.”

A Few Things People Ask Me
Do I need to know how to pose?
Not at all. Most people feel a bit unsure at first—and that’s completely normal. I’ll guide you gently so you’re not left wondering what to do. My approach is shaped by years of photographing headshots, so the goal is always to keep things natural, rather than forced.
Where do the sessions take place?
Most sessions take place in my studio, which offers a relaxed and private setting. I can also photograph you on location—cafés, parks, record stores, or other spots around Portland—if that feels more like you.
What should I wear for our session?
Wear something that feels like you and fits comfortably. Simple, well-fitting clothes usually photograph best. If you want help deciding, I’m happy to offer guidance ahead of time.
Are these photos only for dating profiles?
They’re made for dating profiles, but many people also use them for social media, personal websites, or profile photos elsewhere. The goal is the same—natural images that feel like you.
Will the photos look staged?
No. The aim is relaxed and real. I focus more on expression and ease than “posing”—you’ll get direction, but nothing stiff.
How much editing do you do?
Editing is light and respectful—small adjustments only. You’ll still look like yourself.
Do these photos work across different dating apps?
Yes. They’re designed to work well on apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Match—anywhere a clear, natural photo helps someone feel they’re meeting the real you.
